The National Pension System is a Government-sponsored defined contribution retirement system regulated by PFRDA.

NPS is not a single scheme, it is a solution system for retirement planning. It gives choice to the investors to invest the money according to their risk appetite and choice of the Pension Fund Manager.

The primary asset classes under the scheme are Equity, Govt Securities, bonds, and alternative investment funds. The scheme also allows premature exit and partial withdrawals subject to conditions.
